INRCOG can help your community prepare and deal with emergencies and disasters through planning and grant writing efforts. Preparing for such events can ease the burden of recovering from the disaster or emergency.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds grant programs aimed at strengthening the emergency preparedness of a community. Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management also provides useful information on emergency preparedness and programs that may be available to your community. Contact us for help identifying funding programs to help your community prepare for emergencies.
We have coordinated multi-jurisdictional, county-wide Hazardous Mitigation Plans (HMP) throughout our region. These plans identify potential disasters, both natural and man-made, that a community may face and outlines implementation strategies for minimizing the impacts of these disasters. Several grant programs have mitigation planning requirements and help local governments fund pre-disaster projects mitigation efforts identified in HMPs as well as funding for post-disaster recovery.
